AROUND RENO
Deep within the Sierra Mountains, Reno is America’s Adventure Place and home to Reno River Festival 2008. A city that never sleeps, Reno is a 24-hour action-packed mecca for gaming, nightlife and entertainment, not to mention the base camp for some of nature’s best activities and attractions.
Home to the Reno Whitewater Park, the Truckee River sweeps through the city’s Art and Riverwalk District, providing a place for some of the world’s best kayakers to wreak havoc on the rapids. Boutiques, restaurants and coffee shops line the water, complemented by a scattering of museums, play houses and theaters — all in walking distance from one another.
Beyond the city proper, adventure awaits. Venture out into the snowcapped mountains that encompass the city for a bike ride or challenge yourself with a day-long hike. Deemed one of the most beautiful places in the world, Lake Tahoe is just 45 minutes from Reno offering scenic views and extreme terrain for skiing, hiking and cycling enthusiasts, in addition to 24-hour gaming and nightlife.
Reno is a friendly, tight-knit community with a big-city feel. Don’t hold-off, pack your bags and expose your senses to one of the extreme wonders of the West, but be prepared - once you experience northern Nevada, you may never want to leave.
